Strengthening Malaysia's Whistleblower Policy: What Needs To Be Done And How?

We are delighted to announce the successful conclusion of our first side event of Corruption-Free Generation, a forum dedicated to the crucial topic of strengthening whistleblower protection.

We were incredibly fortunate to have Xavier Justo, the key informant in the infamous 1MDB scandal, with us during his brief visit to Malaysia. He graciously shared his first-hand experiences, providing invaluable insights into the complex world of corruption and the critical role played by whistleblowers.

Joining Xavier Justo was a stellar lineup of speakers, each bringing their profound expertise and knowledge to the forum. Clare Rewcastle Brown, the renowned investigative journalist behind Sarawak Report, captivated the audience with her in-depth understanding of the 1MDB case. Edmund Terence Gomez, a prominent figure from C4 (Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism), shed light on the intricacies of whistleblower protection policy in Malaysia. P. Gunasegaram, an esteemed columnist from Malaysiakini, shared his wealth of insights garnered from years of analyzing corruption issues in the country.

The session was skillfully moderated by Chan Yit Fei, representing the Agora Society. His expertise in fostering meaningful discussions ensured that the forum remained engaging and productive throughout.

The event provided a platform for these distinguished speakers to share their knowledge and created an atmosphere of awareness and discussion surrounding the pressing issue of corruption. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in lively conversations, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of whistleblower protection and its significance in combating corruption.

As the campaigner, we remain committed to organizing impactful events and initiatives that raise awareness, facilitate dialogue, and drive change in the fight against corruption. Stay tuned for future events, and join us in creating a better, more transparent world. Together, we can build a future free from the shackles of corruption.
